Trump, in a rather self-congratulatory fashion, awarded himself top marks for his handling of the economy during a Politico interview. The level of praise he bestowed upon himself felt a tad surreal compared to the everyday experiences of many Americans.
When asked to grade his performance, Trump confidently declared, “A-plus.” Journalist Burns, however, met this with a touch of skepticism.
Unfazed, Trump decided that even an “A-plus” didn’t quite capture his perceived brilliance. He adjusted his grade to a rather theatrical “A+++++.”
An interesting exchange took place when reporter Dasha Burns pointed out potential hardships for Americans should Obamacare subsidies expire, especially during Christmas. Trump’s response was sharp. “Don’t be dramatic,” he told her – twice.
Many observed that Trump’s actions often seem driven by a sense of ego protection. Thus, his insistence on an “A” – or rather an “A+++++” – left numerous social media commentators questioning his grasp on reality.
