First Denver snow brings out holiday crowds for Small Business Saturday

Denver’s Snowy Charm: A Festive Transformation

A Dusting of Delight

Good day! Denver, typically known for its vibrant energy, recently experienced a delightful transformation. A light dusting of snow turned the city into a festive wonderland. Despite its modest covering, the snow had Denverites rushing outdoors, eager to embrace the holiday spirit.

Festive Fun Runs

Among those keen to celebrate was local resident, Kate Kundahl. “I saw snow on the ground. It felt like the Christmas season. It was so exciting,” she remarked. Indeed, the scene had all the makings of a proper holiday setting.

The Dashing Through LoDo Fun Run had participants braving the chilly winds near Union Station. Sigri Strand, Union Station’s marketing director, cheerfully noted, “They’re going to be getting warm from running, right?” And quite right she was.

Embracing the Chill at Christkindlmarket

Not far from the fun run, the Denver Christkindlmarket was in full swing. Stallholders wrapped up snugly, embracing the nippy temperatures. Britt McGaughan, a cheerful vendor selling candles, expressed her delight: “It’s about time for the cold, you know?”

McGaughan had wisely prepared for the frosty air. “I have two heaters down here,” she explained. “Some hand warmers, my girls and I are completely set up for the season.” Her cheerfulness matched the bustling crowd, as she added, “People are coming out and shopping small, so we couldn’t be happier.”

The Warmth of Community

As the sun rose higher, much of the snow vanished, yet the festive spirit lingered. Eager shoppers continued to support local Colorado enterprises. The mood was beautifully captured by McGaughan’s words: “It’s almost December in Colorado. We needed it.”

Holiday Lights and Lasting Cheer

This jolly atmosphere coincided perfectly with the start of the Christkindlmarket, which runs until December 23rd at the Auraria Campus. Even Union Station’s holiday lights twinkled to life, marking the season’s first snowfall with perfect timing.

Denver’s festive transformation showed no need for a blizzard; just a gentle powdering sufficed to fill hearts with cheer and warmth.
