In the quaint setting of Fruitland, Florida, a rather unsettling incident unfolded, prompting law enforcement to swing into action. Over the weekend, authorities apprehended Lemar Beasley, 54, hailing from Crescent City, in connection with a grievous act.
This troubling event involving a tragic stabbing occurred on a typical Friday outside the local Dollar General. Cheyenne Kastens, aged 36 from Georgetown, unfortunately lost her life due to the incident. She was beside her vehicle when Beasley, without provocation or prior interaction, approached with malicious intent.

Lemar Beasley met his match with the long arm of the law on Saturday evening. The charge leveled against him? First-degree murder. The decisive action taken by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office stems from diligently gathered evidence, including the knife used in the assault.
Upon committing this heinous act, Beasley swiftly left the scene. However, justice was not far behind, as authorities later discovered him residing in a camper along Huntington Shortcut Road. His capture has since provided a sense of relief to the community.
What’s truly unsettling is Beasley’s extensive criminal background. Known as a convicted registered sex offender, his history spans back to 1991. Quite recently, he tasted freedom after a five-year stint in prison for non-compliance with sex offender registration in 2021.
Sheriff H.D. ‘Gator’ DeLoach expressed heartfelt condolences to Kastens’ family and friends, acknowledging the profound grief they endure. “Our thoughts are with the family during this challenging time,” he remarked, pledging relentless pursuit of justice, ensuring Beasley remains confined.
“There’s no justification for such a loss while going about one’s day,” added Sheriff DeLoach, resonating with the local community’s sentiment.
